Artist and composer
Martin Hachmann (*1977), visual artist and composer. He works predominantly with sound, light and social fragments. His installation sound sculptures invite us to explore the threshold between social concepts of reality, and individual, audible scenarios of perception. With his supposedly banal objects, Martin Hachmann creates complex moments, inspired among other things by Fluxus and noise-based music, which accidentally – though not arbitrarily as they are limited by compositional guidelines – bring attention to the ever present option of reducing, structuring, and categorizing sound. Noise, in that sense, is always a decision that must be made.
