Alexandre Babel, drummer, percussionist and composer. He is active in both contemporary as well as experimental music. Member of the KNM Chamber Ensemble for New Music Berlin, a guest player of Ensemble Modern, the Schlagquartett Köln and the Ensemble Musikfabrik. He is working with composers such as Dmitri Kourlianski, Enno Poppe, Michael Wertmüller and Pierre Jodlowski as well as with musicians such as Nicolas Field, Keiji Haino, Jacques Demierre, Otomo Yoshihide, Anthony Pateras, Theo Nabicht, Hans Koch, Mio Chareteau and Gaudenz Badrutt. He performs internationally as a soloist and in ensembles. His percussion compositions have been performed at Eyedrum in Atlanta, Oberlin University and the Festival Archipel in Geneva. He teaches and is artistic director of the Festival Batteries! in Geneva.
